Professor Graham Currie, Chair of Public Transport, Monash University

Professor Graham Currie holds Australian’s first professorship in public transport based at the Institute of Transport Studies, Monash University.

Graham has over 28 years as public transport planning specialist and has worked for some of the world largest operators in Europe, Asia and North America. However he started his career in community transport driving mini-buses for people with disabilities and his first paying job was as a researcher with the UK National Advisory Unit for Community Transport.

Graham now specialises in transport needs research and has led numerous studies in all states and territories of Australia over the last 20 years. He led the National Strategy to Overcome Transport Disadvantage Study for the 1990’s Keating Cabinet and more recently the National Study of Rural and Regional Transport for Young People.
