Session Details

Relating to your Supervisor (exPERT DVD Replay)

Pre-recorded session. Watch the DVD of this very popular exPERT Session. The quality and success of a student's educational experience is strongly dependent on their relationship with their supervisor or supervisors. This workshop provides the opportunity to explore aspects of this relationship. During this session, speakers will draw upon their own experiences to discuss what expectations supervisors have of their research students and what rights and responsibilities a student has with regard to establishing and maintaining good supervisory practices. Potential difficulties can arise within a supervisory relationship, so this session also provides strategies that students can use to overcome problems.

The session will be facilitated by Jenny Reeder, MPA, who will be available to answer your questions after viewing.

Building your Thesis ((exPERT DVD Replay)

Pre-recorded session from 11 May 2005. Watch the DVD of this very successful session. Professor Phillip Nagley has had more than 30 years’ experience in the supervision of PhD students and has helped more than 30 students in the successful completion of their theses. In this seminar Professor Nagley will provide a structured approach to preparing a thesis for the PhD (or similar degree by research). He will focus on the various stages in thesis preparation, including an overview of what should go into each chapter through to the final steps leading up to submission for examination.

This session will be  facilitated by a team of experienced CALTS staff members who will be able to answer your questions after viewing.
