Thirty teams for Relay for Life

Thirty teams have registered for the Frankston Relay for Life event on 18 & 19 November at Ballam Park.

The 24 hour relay event, being coordinated by MONSU and the Peninsula campus on behalf of the Anti-Cancer Council Victoria, has received great community and campus support.

Apart from the nine Monash and MONSU teams registered, entertainment and services have been donated by numerous individuals and areas at the campus. Bob Greaves from Education will donate his 'Children Working with Wood' activity while Robert Wolfgramm, also from Education, will keep teams boogying with his band The Bulla Boys.

MUCAPS will provide the first aid, and committee member and MUCAPS staff member Jo O'Reilly will perform with her band Boxer.

Community support and sponsorship has also been positive with several key requirements being donated by including the track, stage hire, massage, sound and lighting, marquees and security.

The final team captains meeting before the weekend will be held this Thursday 2 November in MONSU's large conference room at 6 pm. This meeting will cover information on registrations, final banking, parking, food and ceremonies.

Notice board

Congratulations to Bob Greaves from the Faculty of Education on his Royal Agricultural Society President's Medal awarded at this year's show. Bob won the medal for his highly successful 'Children Working with Wood' activity, which he has been enthralling children at the show  for 15 years.

From this week, the Upperdeck cafe's trading hours are 8 am to 3 pm Monday to Friday.

With all staff needing new business cards to keep in line with the recently  released Visual Identify Manual, the best way to get rid of your old ones is by sending them to Jenny McGrath in Applied Science at the Peninsula campus.

Jenny is collecting the cards for her daughter's school, which is trying to help a terminally ill boy appear in the Guinness Book of Records by accumulating the largest number of business cards.

Don't forget . . .

2 November Peninsula Staff Social Club happy hour. First drink free for staff club members, all other drinks at happy hour prices. Seahorse Tavern, 5 pm.

7 November 'The race that stops the nation' - the Peninsula Staff Social Club is organising a spit roast lunch for Melbourne Cup Day. Cost is $10 for staff club members and $12 for non members. This includes all food and drinks (wine, beer and soft drink). It will be held below the Seahorse Tavern from 12 noon.
