Monash thinks green - you can too

Monash University has this year signed their fleet of 447 vehicles to the Greenfleet program, which will see 12,516 native trees planted on their behalf to absorb the greenhouse gas emissions from their fleet for one year.

Greenfleet Australia is a not for profit organisation that aims to provide a simple and effective way to reduce your car's impact on the environment. For $30 (tax deductible), Greenfleet will plant and maintain 17 native trees on your behalf. These trees will absorb the greenhouse gases that the average car produces in a year (based on 4.3 tonnes of CO2).

Greenfleet's policy to put back into the Australian bush what was once there
originally has seen them planting indigenous trees in areas where they are needed most including the Murray-Darling catchment, which spans Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria, South Australia and the ACT.

Planting trees along the Murray River is helping to reduce the major
salinity problem which is severely affecting our largest river system. The
Murray-Darling is the source of 41 per cent of Australia's gross agricultural
production. So far Greenfleet has planted over 1.3 million native trees since 1997 on behalf of Australian motorists.

For further information about Greenfleet or to join up visit their website or call 1800 032 999

Annual MONSU Cup played at Peninsula

It was a big night for sport at Monash recently when the Peninsula Seadragons hosted the Caulfield Gryphons in the first annual MONSU Soccer Cup.

Peninsula had a large following of supporters attending the game. Caulfield brought a smaller, but vocal crowd with them. The match was played in a competitive but good spirited manner by both teams.

The Gryphons, lead by Frank Interigi, used their speed and accuracy to put the Seadragons under pressure for much of the match. The final score line was a 4-1 win to Caulfield. The night was a big success with a great game being played to a large audience. All players and spectators are eagerly awaiting next year's clash.
