report
Early
Childhood Centre
Progressing well with the
working Going out to tender in the next week Building
should commence in November with construction completed by June 2003
Ramp
from Union building to student accommodation/hockey pitch precinct
This project has been tendered and a
contractor appointed. Work should commence
within next month. The ramp will provide
disabled access from the first floor of Union building to the student
accommodation and Hockey Pitch and also back down to the pathway leading
down to G, F and A Buildings.
A
Building Plaza and Library Forecourt Landscaping
Funding had been received to demolish
the front of the A building plaza and refurbish the remaining part of the
plaza and the courtyard below. Funding had also
been received to commence work on the landscaping of the area between A
building and the Library. Both projects are
interdependent and it now appears unlikely that funding for the second
stage of the Library Forecourt Landscaping will be forthcoming. As
a result, quantity surveyors are currently looking at both projects and
will advise if there is any part of the project that can successfully be
completed with the current funding without leaving the campus with an
'unfinished look'. It might be that neither of these projects proceed this
year.
Security
Review
A security review is currently being
undertaken by AMTAC who will review all campuses of the university.
Feedback to date has been positive about the way
security matters are handled on the campus. A
number of areas have been identified where security could be breached.
A formal report will be issued later in the year.
Non-Operational
Project Submissions for 2003
At this stage it appears likely that a
number of projects will receive funding in 2003 including emergency
lighting in D building, energy monitoring,
reconfiguration of gate 3 entry, installation of security
camera system stage 1 and continuation of upgrade
to external signage
LLEN
A Memorandum of Understanding has being
signed between the campus and the Frankston/Mornington Peninsula

Recycling
for a better future
The
Peninsula campus is introducing a new environmental program for the recycling
of toner cartridges.
In
association with Corporate Recycling, instead of placing empty toner
cartridges from your fax, photocopier and printers in the bin, place them
in the Corporate Recycling Box. To have a Corporate Recycling box
delivered please automate via the Corporate Recycling website.
The plastic from the toner cartridges is
granulated into different polymers and then re-moulded into a variety of
different products including tables, seats and benches with the aim
of having signs and outdoor furniture made for the university grounds. Two benches
using the recycling technique are already in use in the hockey
field.
Rebate
System
Rebates for each Corporate Recycling bin will be
allocated back to the section that books the pick up. To receive a rebate
schedule sheet please register on the Corporate Recycling website and ask
for the Monash rebate sheet in the comments section. The information sheet
will be emailed. Many areas of the university have the funds created
returned as a donation from Relay for Life or have recycled seats and
tables donated back to the university.
Collections
When your Corporate Recycling bin is full please
automate the collection via the web site. Once in the site book your pick
up under the heading Delivery/Collection. All collections are then
recorded and your rebate points will be sent back to the email address
used by the person booking the pick up. There is no charge for this
service.
Other types
of recyclable waste
For all other types of waste like Cans, Cardboard,
paper and document shredding please contact Michael
Mirra directly or register your enquiry on the Corporate Recycling
website.

Women at the Peninsula campus.
The program is tailored for female staff from levels 4 to 8 and aims to help
improve self-confidence and self-esteem. It involves participants probing
their pasts to learn why
they behave in certain ways and then learning skills to help them change their reactions and beliefs.
The program will run over three half days, on the mornings of : Tuesday 22nd October, Wednesday 23rd October and Wednesday 30th October.
If you wish to do the program you need to attend all three sessions and the cost involved is $75 per person for the total program.
