Equal Opportunity law, policy and process workshops

The University's Equity and Diversity Centre is running a number of Law Policy and Process Workshops designed to give managers a better understanding of their obligations relating to equal opportunity.

Each workshop covers:

  • What does the legislation covering equal opportunity actually say?

  • How does the university translate this legislation into policy and practice?

By the end of the workshop participants will:

  • Be familiar with some important equal opportunity rights and responsibilities as covered by the law;

  • Be familiar with various Monash University EO policies and procedures;

  • Understand the meaning of harassment, discrimination and vilification;

  • Understand the University procedures for dealing with alleged incidents of harassment, discrimination or vilification;

  • Recognise the importance of key concepts of confidentiality, conciliation and natural justice.

The workshop is open to any member of staff interested in having a better understanding of their rights and responsibilities under the law.

There does not seem sufficient interest to run a workshop at Peninsula campus. However, any staff member interested in attending a workshop can attend at Clayton at any of the following times:
