Around the Bay in a Day challenge

Thousands of cyclists complete the 210km circumnavigation of Port Phillip Bay each year. It's a ride that requires determination and stamina. This year, the ride is taking place on Sunday October 17.

Monash Sport will be entering a team and invites anyone who is interested to join. A number of people have already registered with the team. Around the Bay in a Day is not a race so you can take it at your own pace. If you are a fitness fanatic you may want to challenge yourself to the full 210km ride, otherwise you can take your time and have picnic on the way.

To assist with training, Monash Sport has developed a program that will take a lot of the guesswork out of the ride. For those who are super keen, training might encompass early morning and weekend rides and spinning classes at Clayton.

Bicycle Victoria will provide lunch, full route support and lane closures, a ferry ride across the heads, first aid support, plus massage services at the finish.

For more information and registration details visit the Monash Sport website.

Building works at Peninsula Library

The Library's IT training room on level one is being extended to provide additional PCs for training and for student use. The work involves removing solid walls that will partially be replaced by glass panels. The adjoining multimedia area will be remodelled to provide better access to collections and AV facilities.

It is hoped that this work will result in "opening up" this area of the library and that the training room will become visible to students who need to find a vacant PC.   In addition, the postgraduate room on level two is being extended to provide additional PCs and work space for these students.

Ozzrok Football tipping results

After leading since round four, Glenn Weaver won the Ozzrok Football tipping competition by the smallest of margins at 127 points and taking the first prize of $100. The second prize of $50 went to Patrick Boyd at 126 points. In third place was David Meachan, with 125 points and taking $30.
