Campus Director's drinks report
Caulfield campus planning
The Caulfield campus is to be used as the pilot for long term
strategic planning focusing on five to ten years and beyond in terms of
student population, facilities and faculty representation at the campus.
Services Centre
Hoping to tender the works at the end of the month. On site
commencement in November with a completion around May 2003.
Refurbishment of buildings D and E for
Art and Design
Works are progressing to program and completion is scheduled for April
2003. Demolition of E4 will
commence shortly which will involve the installation of scaffolding on
both sides of the building. On the Dandenong Rd side, the scaffolding will
be safe for pedestrians to walk under.
Refurbishment of N1 and level 3 for
BusEco MBA Program
Is due for completion at the end of this month. Another five high
quality hi-tech theatres have been constructed for the MBA Program.
Third lift installation Building S
Works are currently out to tender. Completion is anticipated around
April 2003 as all lifts are now imported and therefore there is up to an
18 week delivery timeframe. Most of
the works will be undertaken within the existing lift shaft, which is
large enough to accommodate the third lift car. The only disruption will
be the cutting in of the new doors on each level. As part of this work the
existing two lift cars and their drives will also be upgraded, and
therefore the long waits should be eliminated.
Refurbishment of Building T for SIMS
In the early design development phase, heading for a tender in
February 2003 and a completion by end of 2003. Work involves the
refurbishment of level 2 and 3 and a three level extension on the north
eastern corner.
Upgrade of F2 teaching rooms
At the end of the year refurbishment works will be undertaken to
spruce up F2 corridor and teaching spaces. Works will include carpeting the corridor and painting.
Teaching rooms will be repainted and old blackboards will be removed.
Intersection of Sir John Monash
Drive/Queens Ave
Facilities and Services is currently discussing with City of Glen Eira
for the establishment of pedestrian safety works to this intersection.
Works proposed include kerb realignments, and hopefully pedestrian
crossings with flashing lights. Monash has committed $50K and Council
$20K. Looking at alternative
sources of funding to assist with the overall project cost of around
$120K.
Data projectors
All accessible data projectors have now been individually alarmed
across the campus.
Tennis Courts – East Caulfield Reserve
Hoping that a few more people will use the courts now that the weather
is on the improve.
Staff/Faculty Club
Discussions are continuing as to the feasibility of establishing
staff/faculty club in the ground floor of K building, which would be able
to utilise Gryph Inn kitchen facilities

Andrew Dixon from the Library and Max Jory from Psychology will be the
respective general staff and academic staff members on the campus's
Service Council, which has been set up to focus on developing quality
