Caulfield Campus work place safety awards

Call for Nominations for 2002

Caulfield Campus Director Mr John White is pleased to sponsor the Caulfield Campus Workplace Safety Awards to recognise individuals and workgroups at the campus who have excelled in creating and maintaining a safe and healthy workplace consistent with OHSE policies. 

One individual and/or group will be selected each year from nominations received from the campus. Successful nominees will receive a certificate, a notice in Monash Memo and lunch or morning tea.  The Campus Director, the Campus OHSE Consultant and the Manager of OHSE will determine the successful applicant(s).

Criteria

Nominees will be individuals or groups who demonstrate initiative in creating or maintaining a safe and healthy workplace.  Any or all of the following criteria may apply:

  • Excellent in-house safety program – broad implementation of safety throughout the workplace
  • Active role in safety – strong advocate of health and safety
  • Improvement in health and safety – demonstrating significant improvement over previous conditions
  • Consistency – maintaining a good safety program over a number of years
  • Product/process/practice development and implementation – special effort given to a specific aspect of health and/or safety within the workplace

Nominations 

The Campus Director is seeking nominations for Caulfield Campus Workplace Safety Awards.  complete the nomination form and return it to the Caulfield campus OHSE consultant, Peter Fell at Faculty of Art and Design or fax extn 32985.

Nominations must contain all of the following information:

  • Name of the individual or group being nominated;
  • Number of people in the group;
  • School/Centre/Department of the nominee(s);
  • Location where the nominee(s) work;
  • A description of why the individual or group is deserving of the award. Include examples and specifics.  Nominees must have shown initiative demonstrated by satisfying at least one of the five criteria listed above.
  • List any references or contacts that may be useful if the evaluators need additional information.
  • Sign and print your name, school, phone number, email address and date.

Nominations must be received no later than 4 pm on 16 September 2002.

Orientation special project funding

The University Orientation Committee is seeking applications in their Special Project funding scheme for innovative activities and events to run during Orientation 2003.

The competitive special projects funding scheme is designed to encourage and support university groups with developing innovative orientation projects to assist commencing students with successful on-going transition to university.

A total of $12,000 is available to fund at least five projects. For 2003, applications to develop four broad types of projects are invited: academic, student support services, special student groups and social activities.

Applications for activities to be held at the Caulfield campus must be submitted to Helen Dunne  by Close of business Monday, 7 October as they then need to be considered and ranked by the Caulfield Campus
Orientation Committee before being sent to the university-wide selection panel.

Frankston Relay for Life 2002

Monash University's Peninsula campus is again coordinating the Cancer Council's fundraising event Relay for Life at Frankston's Ballam Park in November.

Relay for Life is 24 hours of fun, with the challenge of completing a relay style walk or run all in the name of raising money for cancer research, education and support services.

This is the third year the campus has run the community event on behalf of the Cancer Council with Monash teams raising more than $20,000 of the $70,000 raised in 2001. 

This year, the organising committee, which consists of representatives from Berwick, Caulfield, Clayton and Peninsula campuses, Monyx, Frankston City Council and the local community, hopes to raise $80,000.

Relay for Life in Frankston is from 6 pm Friday 15 November to 6 pm Saturday 16 November.

About the presentation: Stella's research looks at diffusion of Indigenous 'dreaming' stories into the world of mainstream art as a means of developing legitimacy.

13 September Accounting & Finance seminar 'Control systems and trust in outsourcing relationships', by Professor Kim Langfield-Smith. A1.37. 12 noon.
