food.

bar-b-que every Thursday out on the common lawn until the end of semester

raining, the bar-b-que will be located next to the Lavazza coffee cart on
the ground floor walkway. Home-made burgers and vegetable burgers
will be standard offerings, with a "special" eg., chicken burgers, grilled
fish also offered each week.
Mixed Netball
The
staff mixed netball team is off to a flying start. Staff from IT,
Facilities & Services,
Monash International and Campus Manager's office all took part in their first game on Tuesday 27 and
were rather amazed they won their first match against a student team! All agreed it was great fun and looked
forward to the next game.
Games take place every Tuesday in
Chisholm Hall from 12.30 p.m - no charge.
This is a great opportunity to
meet other people from around the campus. If you are
interested in being added to the staff team please contact Christel Kent

National Heart Day
Take part in Heart Week 2004
"A small change can make a Big Difference"
With an Australian dying every 10 minutes from cardiovascular disease, the
National Heart Foundation of Australia's Heart Week 2004 (2nd-8th May)
aims to save lives by encouraging more people to take up healthier eating
and regular physical activity.
Heart Week 2004 will challenge Australians to make small changes in their
eating and physical activity habits to enjoy a longer, healthier life.
Enjoying healthy eating and being physically active is important for heart
health as well as achieving and maintaining a healthy weight.
The message is timely as more than half of the Australian adult
population are overweight or obese. This increases their risk of
coronary heart disease, stroke, congestive heart failure and Type 2
Diabetes.
Heart Day - Dress Red, Give readily - is Friday 7th May 2004
Heart Day is the major public fundraising event during Heart Week. To help
promote the Heart Week 2004 message and raise much-needed funds to support
the Heart Foundation's life-saving work in research, information and
community programs, the Heart Foundation is calling on the community to
take part.
Let's make the Caulfield Campus a sea of Red for Friday 7th May. So for
the day wear red socks, red jumper, dye your hair red, wear a red scarf,
and give readily. You will find collection boxes at the gym, community
services, library and the service centre. So join in the fun and give to a
worthwhile cause.
Maybe you could encourage the people in your immediate workplace to get
involved. Make it fun. But behind this fun is the serious matter of your
health. Can you think of a simple change to your lifestyle that will
provide you with a healthier outcome?
If you would like further information concerning your health do not
hesitate to contact Campus Nurse Judy Evans (ext 31177).
New Food &
Beverage Vendors on Campus
Hopefully you have seen and tried
the offerings by the two new food & beverage vendors currently being
trialled on the Caulfield Campus: a Lavazza coffee cart located outside K
& N
buildings facing the common lawn and Anton's Flying Woks who are cooking
up a storm on the level 2 walkway in the Dorey Mall, opposite the Library
entrance.
These new vendors provide staff and students with alternative
choices to existing outlets on campus. This service will not affect the
Gryph Inn, Unicafe or Merlins cafes' current trading hours, menus or
service. The vendors complement existing food & beverage outlets on
the Caulfield campus.
The Lavazza Coffee cart is located outside Buildings K & N, trading
hours will be Monday to Friday 9am - 4pm on a trial basis. The menu
includes all basic coffees including cappuccinos, lattes, long & short
blacks, flat whites and includes flavoured coffees and gourmet
cookies.
Anton's Flying Woks is
located in the Dorey Mall on the level 2 walkway, opposite the Library.
Trading hours are Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday 12 - 2pm for a
trial period. The menu will change on a weekly basis with 3 - 5 options
available every day. The menu may include: Tom Yum (Malay)
Beef/ Chicken or Veg Lemon Grass & Chilli Hot & Sour with Tofu & Hokkien
Noodles; Gang Keow Whan (Malay) Beef/ Chicken or Veg Coriander, Green
Curry & Coconut Milk Broth with Bok Choy & Mushrooms; Roast Pumpkin &
Ginger Soup with Basil & Fresh Pide Roll. There is also a
condiment table with pickled cabbage, fried shallots, green chilli & sweet
chilli available.
We hope you enjoy the new food & beverage offerings available on the
Caulfield Campus.
No Smoking near
Building Entrances
As it is policy that smoking is
not permitted within 10 metres of a
building entrance we have commenced "no smoking" signage around
campus. Staff and students may have noticed the walkway on Levels 1 and 2
of K/N Buildings where no smoking areas have been line marked. Gradually
all entrances will be signed. Ashtrays are in the process of being
removed and relocated where necessary.
UniSuper 2004
Registrations
are now open for UniSuper's new superannuation seminar for existing

UniSuper's investment options and other fund benefits, and is scheduled
