Bill Shorten is the Parliamentary Secretary for Disabilities and Children’s Services and the Member for Maribyrnong (Victoria) in the Parliament of Australia. He is also president of the ALP's Victorian branch and member of the ALP National Executive.

After completing an Arts and a Law degree at Monash University, Mr Shorten joined law firm Maurice, Blackburn and Cashman.

Mr Shorten's most recent role was as national secretary of the Australian Workers' Union from 2001 to 2007. He also held the position of secretary of the Victorian branch of the Australian Workers' Union from 1994 to 2006, during which time he oversaw membership increase from 16,000 to 21,000 workers.

As well as being the interim CEO of the Australian Netball Players' Association, Bill is on the advisory board to the Australian Cricketers'Association and is patron of the Australian Jockeys' Association.
