Dr Anusorn Sangnimnuan (PhD 1985)
President, Bangchak Petroleum Public Company Limited

Currently president of one of Thailand’s major petroleum refineries - Bangchak Petroleum - Anusorn Sangnimnuan has more than 20 years’ experience in the petroleum industry.

After a period at ESSO Standard Thailand Limited, Dr Sangnimnuan joined Bangchak Petroleum in 1985. Initially appointed as a senior engineer (refining technology), he progressed to the position of senior executive vice-president in 2001 and president in 2005.

Dr Sangnimnuan has a PhD in chemical engineering from Monash University. He has also completed degrees including a Master of Environmental Engineering from the Asian Institute of Technology (1980) and a Bachelor of Chemical Engineering from Chulalongkorn University (1976).

Dr Sangnimnuan is Member of the National Legislative Assembly of Thailand, the country’s parliament, and Member and Secretary of the Assembly’s Committee on Energy. He is also executive director of three research centres at Chulalongkorn University in Thailand and member of the School of Environment, Resources and Development Board, Asian Institute of Technology.

Dr Sangnimnuan has initiated several renewable energy initiatives as president at Bangchak Petroleum. These include the introduction of a new ethanol-petrol blend (E20) and a campaign to encourage Thais to recycle cooking oil for bio-diesel production.

Dr Sangnimnuan received the Asia Corporate Social Responsibility Award at the 2008 Asia Business Leaders Awards for “his ability to translate (Bangchak Petroleum’s) success into benefits for the community”.
