Mr Andrew Mohl (BEc(Hons) 1977)
Company director and executive coach

Andrew Mohl has held a variety of roles within the finance industry since graduating from Monash University. His most notable role was managing director and CEO of AMP Limited, Australia’s largest superannuation manager, from 2002 to 2007.

Mr Mohl began his career at the Reserve Bank of Australia (RBA) where he worked from 1978-1986, during which time he was seconded to the Federal Reserve Bank of New York (1983 to 1984). His roles at the RBA included senior economist and deputy head of research.

In 1986, Mr Mohl joined ANZ Banking Group where his roles included senior economist, group chief economist, divisional chief manager, ANZ retail banking and managing director, ANZ Funds Management.

Mr Mohl joined AMP in 1996 as general manager, retail distribution, AMP Financial Services. He subsequently became managing director of AMP Asset Management and managing director, AMP Financial Services before being appointed as the company’s CEO.

Mr Mohl took over the role of CEO when AMP was financially distressed and under intense public scrutiny. He undertook a major restructuring of the group including the demerger of AMP into Australian and UK-based companies. Under his leadership, the newly formed Australian company group (established in 2003) flourished with its share price almost tripling over the subsequent four years.

Mr Mohl is currently a director of the Commonwealth Bank and an executive coach to CEOs.
