Alumni profile: Wong Sze Zen
The month of September was a whirlwind of highlights for Wong Sze Zen as she was crowned Miss Malaysia / World 2003, and also graduated from Monash University with a Bachelor of Business and IT. |

Born in Kuala Lumpur, Zen went to school in Damansara Jaya. She was actively involved in community work through the Leo Club of her high school. Having a passion for charitable efforts, she recently had the opportunity to work with children at the Selangor School of the Deaf. With intentions to help raise funds for these children, she graciously accepted their invitation to become the Ambassador of the
organization.
When asked who or what inspired her to participate in the beauty pageant, she said it was her friends at university who encouraged her. |

“The contest was a challenging but fun experience. I believe women who participate in such events are not only courageous, but are required to have great personalities, intelligence, and work very hard to be able to present themselves in public. I guess with a little extra good luck, one could probably end up as the winner”, she said, with a smile worthy of Miss Malaysia. Zen’s long term goals are to pursue postgraduate studies, and to manage her own business in fashion retailing. Whilst fulfilling her obligations as Miss Malaysia / World, she is taking up new roles such as guest starring in local television productions, and would like to explore hosting certain TV shows. Being the only girl amongst her siblings, Zen is kept very active by her four elder brothers. Zen enjoys a variety of sports such as working out in the gym, yoga, rock climbing, swimming and basketball. She also reads extensively and recently started learning sign language as a new hobby. When asked how she viewed herself, she said “I’m a positive and realistic person. And I believe in earning what I deserve through hard work”. More Alumni news |
