As a Monash graduate, you have a great deal of career and life experience to contribute. Why not share this experience with current students by joining our Alumni-Student Mentoring Program?
The program pairs Monash students with experienced alumni professionals. With an emphasis on career and work-life mentoring, the mentors' role is to inspire, inform, encourage and guide students through the transformation from study to employment. Mentors work one on one with students to help them refine their career goals and find direction in their studies.
The program also provides alumni with the opportunity to reconnect with the University and fellow alumni. This year the program introduces e-mentoring, which enables alumni from around the world to join the program and make a difference for a Monash student.
Alumnus John McMorrow, a mentor in 2011, encouraged others to get involved.
"The mentoring program creates a win-win outcome where we all learn something together," he said.
"For the mentor it is the opportunity to give back to Monash and also the opportunity for continuous learning.
"For the mentee it is the opportunity to tap into experience and networks to improve professional standing when outside Monash."
John's mentee Kat said she was a changed person after the program.
"John helped me where previous attempts at professional development had failed," she said.
"He worked with me instead of adopting a stock standard formula. What a wonderful program Monash has run ... a truly nurturing, proactive program."
