We honoured the achievements of our alumni and student communities at the 2011 Distinguished Alumni Awards on 8 September. About 400 alumni, staff, students and supporters attended the event. Learn more about our recipients. It was the first time the awards were held at the Plaza Ballroom and also the first time a live feed of the ceremony was provided via social media. Join us at 'What Lies Beneath? A heritage hypothetical'. Our illustrious panel - led by moderator, alumnus and debating champion Ben Richards - will explore the cultural, social and political issues involved in the excavation of an important (fictitious) Indigenous site in Melbourne. The event will be held at BMW Edge on Thursday 24 November, 6pm for a 6.30pm start. Last year's hypothetical was a fantastic success. We hope you can come along to this free event. More information

See the Albare Travel Diary Band at Clayton campus, 7.30pm, Saturday 22 October! Albare (Albert Dadon AM) is recognised for establishing Acid Jazz in Australia in the 1990s. His guitar playing is described as 'hypnotic and seductively liquid'. To receive your discount simply select the concession ticket price when booking ($15, normal adult price is $29). Book now!

Rod Harris (BE 1969) is a successful engineer, adventurer, and athlete. He was one of the first students through the gates at Clayton and took to campus life with gusto, forming many life-long friendships. Throughout his career Rod admits to mixing his work and travel whenever possible in an effort to satisfy his other passions in life: adventure and the great outdoors. Read more about Rod
