Cheryl Teh
You may not know Cheryl Teh, but there’s a very good chance that her contributions to the Monash Alumni cause may have touched you in some way.
Cheryl’s path to Monash began with the
attainment of her VCE at Elwood Secondary College in Melbourne,
having spent her formative years at SM (P) Sri Aman in Petaling
Jaya, Malaysia.
Armed with a Bachelor of Commerce from Clayton (and later, a
Graduate Diploma in Marketing) in 1994, she took on Malaysia,
starting with a two-year stint at Coopers & Lybrand’s
Executive Resourcing and Training & Communications
divisions. Japan also hosted Cheryl as a Honda-sponsored IATSS
Forum scholar. She returned to join Putra.Net as Operations
Manager and subsequently, Sales & Marketing Manager. Her
talents were then brought to bear at KPMG’s Asia Pacific
Regional Office in 1999, to develop Knowledge Management Systems
for the Asia Pacific region. |

An accomplished pianist and violinist, her passion for music has
taken her to numerous productions and performances in Malaysia,
Singapore and Australia, culminating in a performance at the Sydney
Opera House. Her pioneering work with the New Monash Orchestra and
involvement with the Monash Theatre Group eventually led her to conduct
the Choir of the Philharmonic Society of Selangor, one of the oldest and
most distinguished music troupes in the Klang Valley.
A member of the Institute of Marketing, Malaysia, Cheryl also devotes
her energy to the IATSS Forum Alumni Association as its Honorary
Treasurer/Webmaster, and is actively involved with PROMUDA and the
Malaysian Elephant Appeal organization, whose sanctuary trips organised
by Cheryl have proved to be most educational for several fellow alumni
and Monash students.
Cheryl’s passion for music is tempered by her passion for the pan –
trying out various cuisines from the world’s palette. Her spare time
is spent on reading, predominantly the works of Asian authors, travelling
and relaxing in the cosseting sanctuary spas.
