The artist behind the Distinguished Alumni Awards

Since 2007 glass artist Bethany Wheeler (BA(CeramicDes) 2000, MFA 2003) has created the stunning awards presented to Distinguished Alumni Awards recipients.

Bethany is a Melbourne-based glass artist specialising in kiln-formed glass sculpture.

She is recognised both nationally and internationally through high profile exhibitions, and corporate and public commissions.

Her work can be found in private and public collections including the National Glass Art Collection of Australia.

Bethany obtained a Master of Fine Arts from Monash in 2003 and she is now a lecturer in The Glass Studio, Department of Fine Art in the Faculty of Art, Design and Architecture.

While continuing a productive career as a glass artist, Bethany’s academic and creative abilities contribute to high quality student learning and artistic achievements.

Bethany has been shortlisted for The Art Gallery of Western Australia Tom Malone Glass Prize and will be exhibiting at SOFA in Chicago later in 2011.
