There’s always some reason why it’s scary when you do look back. The real critical thing is to be looking forward, to be thinking about where you need to get to."

He spent almost ten years in leadership positions with Adobe – the world’s fourth largest software company.

Alan Ramadan: "The technology that had the widest reach for us was Flash. It’s now available on 98 per cent of PCs around the world, and increasingly on non-PCs, whether it’s on a mobile phone or a games console. And it’s a piece of technology that allows you to do animations and video. You use it on YouTube and you use it on many other sites. And it’s essentially taking the web from being a flat environment to being a really rich environment."

Voiceover: "Earlier in his career, Mr Ramadan brought together his interests in technology and sport through his successful enterprise Quokka Sports, one of the first Australian technology companies to be listed on the NASDAQ."

Alan Ramadan: "My highlight as an entrepreneur was, I think, Quokka Sports. That was a digital entertainment company focusing on sports. And the highlight event for that company was the Olympic Games in Sydney. It was arguably the biggest sporting event and we had 40 different sports that we were trying to broadcast over the web … And we did win gold, at the end of the day, for our coverage in conjunction with NBC. A great thrill for us and a great thrill for everyone involved with the company."
