Johnson
Arts graduate
Joe Johnson (BA, MA) has experienced being trapped in ice for over
a month
and endured some of the coldest temperatures ever recorded
at sea-level. His research and involvement with Antarctica has earned him the Australian Antarctic Medal and
more recently, the position of Chair of the Australian
Antarctic Names and Medals committee.

Monash alumni around the world will be able to access Proquest
online databases as part of a six-month trial commencing
mid-July. The databases offer full-text research materials from a broad range
of disciplines including business, law, sciences, medicine,

has received the nation's highest award - Companion in
the Order of Australia (AC) - in the 2003 Queen's

CAMPAIGNS & APPEALS
Annual Appeal Phonathon
Over two weekends in June, Monash students telephoned over
2,000 Monash graduates asking for donations to the
University. The areas of need highlighted were libraries,
equity-based scholarships and research. In addition to some
interesting conversations, many generous gifts were made or
pledged over the phone.
