Distinguished alumna recognised

Singapore-based businesswoman Dato' Dr Jannie Tay (BSc, MSc) has been announced as the 2003/4 recipient of the Monash University Distinguished Alumni Award. Dr Tay, who is Managing Director of The Hour Glass Ltd, was recognised for her ‘outstanding achievements in business in Singapore and internationally, for her energetic advocacy for the advancement of women, and for her sustained contributions to community causes’. <Jannie Tay profile>

Hong Kong alumni dinner

Management character survey

Professor James Sarros, speaker at the recent 'Gearing for Success' career seminar, has compiled a management character survey for the Australian Institute of Management. The survey has been designed to identify the type of character required to be a successful manager. <more info>

Econometrics Scholarship fund

October 21st marked the anniversary of the tragic shooting at Monash University, Clayton in 2002. A scholarship fund has been established in honour of Steven Wu and William Chan who lost their lives in the incident. The scholarship will be available to honours students in the Department of Business Statistics and Econometrics.
