Information for students (mentees)

“The mentoring program has helped me to see the bigger picture in regards to my thesis and its expected outcomes.

"This has been invaluable in maintaining a rational outlook about my future prospects, putting it in perspective without diminishing the importance of getting it right.”

Geoff, mentee

As a student, the mentoring program may help you find direction in your studies and refine your career goals.

The benefits for Monash students participating in the program include:

  • an expert’s view of your prospective professional lifestyle and work environment
  • a broader view of where your degree can take you
  • advice on looking for work after graduation
  • knowledge of discipline-related and non technical skills
  • independent advice about your expectations, career plan and strengths and weaknesses
  • support and encouragement from someone who has gone through similar experiences

Please note that this is not a work placement program. Places are limited. Student participation depends on the availability of a suitable mentor.

Due to an overwhelming response from students, this program is at capacity. There are some places left in the program for Science students. Please email alumnimentoring@monash.edu if you are studying in one of these areas and would like a mentor.
