His Honour Chief Judge Michael Rozenes AO QC

Michael Rozenes (BJuris 1968, LLB 1970) has been Chief Judge of the County Court of Victoria since 2002.

Chief Judge Rozenes has had a distinguished career in criminal, commercial and administrative law over more than 30 years.

Chief Judge Rozenes was admitted to practice in 1971. He has specialised in criminal and general law including overseeing complex taxation, corporate and appellant criminal cases.

He became a Queen’s Counsel in 1986.

From 1992 to 1997 Chief Judge Rozenes held the position of Commonwealth Director of Public Prosecutions.

In 2010 he was recognised with an Officer of the Order of Australia for "distinguished service to the judiciary, particularly as Chief Judge of the County Court of Victoria and the Commonwealth Director of Public Prosecutions, and through contributions to law reform and legal education".

He has been a member of the Victorian Bar Council, the Victorian Bar Ethics Committee and Chair of the Criminal Bar Association.
