The Great Alumni and Friends Debate will be a key event of Educate08 with the topic being
'Is it a good thing that I have forgotten more than I have learned?'
Speakers include alumni Ms Jane Clifton (BA 1972), actor, singer and author, and
Dr Sally Cockburn (MBBS 1982), leading health commentator.
The debate itself will have a similar style and format to the Comedy Debates where the aim is to entertain rather than to conduct a serious battle. The chosen topic is deliberately broad - with a loose association to university experiences and learning - giving the debaters the freedom to exercise their creativity and flair.
