David Gold - Biography

David Gold is founder and CEO of Igloo Zoo Pty Ltd, a new-age retailer in the food space with the aim of integrating technology into the retail environment in a globally leading manner.

Prior to founding Igloo Zoo in 2007, Mr Gold was founder and chief executive of Azure Wireless Pty Ltd. Azure is a wireless Internet Service Provider (ISP) that offers high-speed totally secure access to the Internet and corporate networks from remote locations like hotels, convention centres and airports. In 2005, he co-founded Simply Sold which operates a chain of eBay consignment stores.

In 1999, Mr Gold established dstore, one of Australia’s leading retail shopping websites. As its CEO, he built the business from an idea into an organisation of 150 staff across Melbourne, Sydney and Singapore. Prior to this he directed the LookSmart Network, a business he developed that became one of the largest ISP content networks in the USA.

Mr Gold has, for 10 years, been a non-executive director of the Inspire Foundation, an Internet-based foundation that inspires young people to help themselves, get involved and get online. One of its key projects is Reach Out, which works to combat youth suicide.

Mr Gold holds an MBA from the Melbourne Business School and a Bachelor of Science from Monash University.
