Singapore alumnae win entrepreneur awardSeptember 2009
Two Monash alumni were recognised at the Asia Pacific’s most prestigious award for entrepreneurs during a special ceremony in July. Singapore alumnae Dato’ Dr Jannie Tay (BSc 1968, MSc 1971) and Ms Jessie Lee (BBus(Bkg&Fin) 2005) join an elite group of 38 business leaders who received an Asia Pacific Entrepreneurship Award in 2009. Dato’ Dr Tay, executive vice-chairman of watch retailer The Hour Glass Limited, was named 2009 Woman Entrepreneur of the Year. In 2003, she received a Monash University Distinguished Alumni Award "for her outstanding achievements in business in Singapore and internationally, for her energetic advocacy for the advancement of women, and for her sustained contributions to community cause". Ms Lee, regional managing director of Progressive Components Asia, was proud to accept a 2009 Most Promising Entrepreneur Award. Winners were awarded for “tenacity in the face of adversity, passion for business excellence and commitment to responsible entrepreneurship”. Links: |
