Monash's distinguished alumni named

Three Monash graduates who have travelled very different paths to success last month received the University's Distinguished Alumni Awards for 2005.

They were presented with their awards by the Chancellor, Mr Jeremy Ellis, at a gala dinner at the Grand Hyatt, Melbourne.

 
Japanese Studies celebrates 40 years at Monash

Monash University's internationally renowned Japanese Studies Program has celebrated its 40th anniversary.

The occasion was marked by a symposium on 25 August attended by alumni, former staff, associates and friends. The symposium was followed by a dinner at the Monash Club where the guest speaker was Ms Caitlin Stronell - an alumna of the program and a lecturer, AIDS activist and practising Shinto priest - who has lived in Japan since graduating from Monash in 1990.

 
International Student Friendship Program

Monash University Community Services welcomes volunteers from the Monash community to be involved in a new intiative titled the International Student Friendship Program (ISFP). The aim of the program is to promote the transition of international students into the University and surrounding community.

During September, October and November a series of information sessions will be conducted for prospective students.

Towards a cure for Multiple Sclerosis

Pre-eminent neuro-immunologist Professor Claude Bernard will give a free public lecture on the new developments in the understanding of Multiple Sclerosis.

Victorian College of Pharmacy: Public lecture series
Come and hear how the work of researchers at the Victorian College of Pharmacy makes a difference to the community.

The public lecture series looks at several important issues in our biomedical community; bird flu, malaria, prostate conditions, drug discovery, medication use and safety and the future of our medicines.

Admission to the public lectures is free, but you must register your attendance.

Christopher Wright

Christopher Wright (MBA(IntBus) 1996) has held high level positions at BA Systems Australia, British Aerospace and Siemens. His current appointment is as Senior Trade Commissioner Shanghai with the Australian Trade Commission.
