Monash appoints new Director, Alumni Relations

May 2008

Monash University has appointed a new leader of its global Alumni Relations program. Louise McCarthy commenced in her role as Director, Alumni Relations on 1 May 2008.

Prior to joining Monash, Ms McCarthy managed the alumni relations team at RMIT University, a position she held for nine years. Earlier in her career, Ms McCarthy held academic and administrative positions at the Melbourne Institute of Textiles (now part of RMIT), including three years as Head of the School of Fashion & Design. Ms McCarthy holds a Master of Education and has lectured for RMIT Business programs in Hong Kong.

Ms McCarthy said she is looking forward to meeting the challenges of her role, particularly at a time when the Alumni Relations program is undergoing renewal and expansion.

“I am keen to work with my colleagues and with alumni to build an innovative and successful program for Monash alumni,” she said.

John Kearsey, Divisional Director, Donor, Alumni and Community Relations, is thrilled that Ms McCarthy has joined the team.

“Monash University is very fortunate to have such a high calibre alumni relations professional taking on this senior leadership role. Louise's extensive experience in developing strategic alumni relationships and programs will strengthen Monash University's success in providing meaningful, relevant and creative opportunities to connect with its 220,000-plus alumni,” he said.
