Monash alumna wins Oscar
Monash proudly congratulates alumna and film producer Eva Orner (BA(Hons) 1993), who last week won an Academy Award for ‘Best Documentary Feature’.

     
 

John Thwaites to chair Monash Sustainability Institute
Former Victorian Deputy Premier and Minister for Environment, Water and Climate Change, John Thwaites (BSc 1978, LLB(Hons) 1981), is the new Chairman of the Monash Sustainability Institute.

     
 

Graduates receive alumni award in Indonesia
Economist Dr Boediono (MEc 1972) and scientist Dr Herawati Sudoyo (PhD 1991) were honoured at the inaugural Australian Alumni Awards in Indonesia last month.

Golf day: Chancellor's Cup
The Monash Alumni Association Inc will host its annual golf day on 25 March at Kingston Heath Golf Club. Guest speaker is Dr Alan Finkel AM (BE 1976, PhD 1981).

     
 

Art exhibition: Premonitions (Monash Collection)
This exhibition reveals the currency, depth and diversity of the Monash Collection, with works by over 40 artists. It runs until 4 May at McClelland Gallery+Sculpture Park in Langwarrin.

Library membership: New alumni offer
The Monash University Library is now offering stand-alone electronic database access membership to alumni in Australia (AU$55) and overseas (AU$50).

     
 

Seminar: Conflict in Translation
On 11 March in St Kilda, war correspondent Jon Stephenson and French translator Marc Orlando (pictured) will discuss the role of translation in the reporting of international conflicts.

On 27 March at Fed Square, Dr Zane Ma Rea and Mr Henry Atkinson (pictured) will discuss 'In the true spirit of education: securing the future for Indigenous children in Australia'.

Monash alumnae Katherine Sheedy (MPubHist 2005) and Emma Russell (MA 1997) (pictured with Professor Mike Ewing) have written a book about the history of the Department of Marketing.

The Chew family are no strangers to Monash, with all five family members students of the University within the last 30 years.

Edmund Chew (BBusCom 2007, BE(Mechatronics)(Hons) 2007), pictured, is the family’s most recent graduate.
