| New school research to focus on absent parents |
New work by Monash researchers is focusing on the impact of divorce and separation on parents. The study hopes to identify issues for schools and parents in the involvement of non-residential parents in their children's schooling.
"We know little about the involvement of non-residential parents in schools and this knowledge gap leaves parents and schools with little guidance," said Professor Thea Brown from Monash University's Department of Social Work. |

| Library members benefit from new database |
Monash University Library is pleased to announce the addition of a major international database for alumni who are library members. SourceOECD offers statistical information across a range of topics including agriculture and food, employment, environment and sustainability, nuclear energy and transport.
"Monash University remains one of the few Australian academic libraries to offer its alumni members electronic access and the only one to offer such a large range," said Veronica Hibbs, membership liaison officer at Monash University Library.
Since the introduction of remote access to electronic resources at Monash University in 2003, the Library has increased the number of databases on offer to include ProQuest, Expanded Academic, AusLit and now SourceOECD. |

| Monash prevents European road accidents |
Experts from across Europe recently gathered at the Monash University Prato centre to discuss current and planned projects in accident research.
Presenters and delegates from Renault, Volvo, Fiat, Nissan and Volkswagen, and the National Transport Research Institutes of France, Sweden and Denmark. The diverse audience also included researchers from a broad group of European universities. |

| Rural pharmacy workshops |
The Victorian College of Pharmacy (VCP) Foundation and the Pharmaceutical Society of Australia will offer four professional development workshops in regional areas of Victoria. The workshops are suitable for non-VCP alumni. They also provide pharmacists with a great opportunity to earn Continuing Professional Development (CPD) points and improve their knowledge.

'Doing business with India – business as usual, whatever happens'
This workshop is an introduction to doing business in India and doing business with Indian business people visiting Australia.
