Monash alumni to compete in the Commonwealth Games
Good luck to six Monash alumni who will represent Australia in the Commonwealth Games: Lauren Hewitt (BSc 2005), Rosanna Ditton (BCom 2004), Travis Brooks (BComp 2005), Kate Quigley (BComn 2005), Janine Ilitch (BE(Civ) 1997) and Rosie Hooper (BA/LLB(Hons) 2005).

Princess Mary to unveil Monash artist's work in Denmark
Monash University lecturer and fine arts graduate Ann Holt will travel to Copenhagen next month for the opening of an exhibition featuring her 30-metre panoramic oil painting, Circumnavigating the Island. The Australian Visit exhbition at the Danish National Museum at Frederiksborg Castle will be opened by Crown Princess Mary.

In a major step towards understanding prostate disease, Melbourne scientists have grown a human prostate from embryonic stem cells.

 
Business and Economics at Monash receives international acclaim

Monash has become the first Victorian university to be awarded international business school accreditation by the Brussels-based European Quality Improvement System, better known as EQUIS.

 
Faculty of Art and Design review

Monash Industry Engagement Awards

Has your business benefited from research undertaken at Monash? If so, you could recommend that the research team with which you've been dealing, be nominated for a Monash Industry Enagagement Award. Teams of researchers or individuals who provided excellent service to industry and/or the community in 2005, through their contract research projects, are eligible for Category C of the awards. Nominations for Category C close on 15 March. The awards will be presented by the Vice-Chancellor on Friday 12 May.

 

Professional Development

New library database

Alumni library members with database access can now use AusLit - a database containing information on more than 75, 000 Australian authors and literary organisations from 1780 to today. Annual alumni library membership costs A$110 and includes access to a range of online databases and borrowing rights to the libraries on any Monash University campus within Australia.

Victorian College of Pharmacy 125th anniversary dinner

Graduates from the Victorian College of Pharmacy are invited to join staff, students and industry colleagues for this black-tie event in celebration of VCP's 125th anniversary. Lecture: 'A Vision for the Future of Indigenous Health and Education'

At this free public lecture, leading indigenous people's advocate Mr Noel Pearson will give his view on the roadmap to improving the health and education systems to meet the needs of indigenous Australians.
