Alumni associations connect in MalaccaJune 2007
The Malaysian Monash Alumni Group (MAG) and Monash University Alumni Association Singapore (MUAAS) held their first joint alumni event last month in scenic Malacca, Malaysia. The two-day event, which took place on 5-6 May, saw more than 32 alumni from Singapore and Malaysia come together to re-connect and re-live their University days. In addition to sight seeing and enjoying Malacca's local cuisine, the event included discussions on the direction of Monash University and its Alumni Relations program, hosted by Mr John Kearsey, Monash University's Divisional Director of Donor, Alumni and Community Relations. The event was a platform for Monash alumni to share stories and learn about each other. "This trip was a wonderful experience and I enjoyed the company, the meals and the time together. It was wonderful to have John Kearsey join us for the event and facilitate the meeting," said MUAAS president Mr Barathan Kumaran. MAG president Ms Cheryl Teh agreed the trip was a worthwhile exercise: "Thanks to everyone who came and for the great camaraderie and friendship," she said. Links: Malacca trip photos |
