Age and experience defeated youth and enthusiasm when two teams of Monash Law alumni debated the question, 'Should the law allow genetic engineering to create the perfect baby?' last month.

| Stem cell expert addresses UN |
| Monash University based scientist Professor Alan Trounson
addressed United Nations delegates in New York this week,
calling for a global ban on reproductive human cloning and
pushing for acceptance of therapeutic cloning. Professor
Trounson was the only Australian scientist to be invited to

| Monash South Africa grads go into business |
| Douglas Minnaar and fellow computing graduates Bradley Harrison and Matthew Hodge have started up their own company, TX Solutions. As Systems Developer for TX, Douglas says "My studies taught me comprehensive software development techniques which have been vital to my work. I also learned to deal with pressure, people and change." The trio were awarded their degrees at the inaugural graduation for Monash South Africa last year. |

| Tim McArdle Inaugural Scholarship awarded |
| Monash student Melinda Mason has been presented with the inaugural Tim McArdle Memorial Scholarship, valued at $2000. The scholarship is the result of local fund raising efforts following the untimely death in 2002 of Dr McArdle, a Monash medicine graduate and inspiring general practitioner in the Gippsland town of Warragul. | Researching health emergencies - volunteers needed |
People who have recently attended an emergency department or called an ambulance are invited to attend a research discussion group on Wed 16 June for one hour.
