Monash University proudly congratulates its 23 alumni, staff, donors and friends who received Australia Day Honours in 2008.

     
 

Distinguished Alumni Award applications close 29 Feb
Nominate an outstanding member of Monash's alumni community in the 2008 Distinguished Alumni Awards. Applications close on Friday 29 February.

     
 

Alumni and donor relations career opportunities at Monash
Monash alumni are invited to apply for two senior positions in the Donor, Alumni and Community Relations division.

Golf day: Chancellor's Cup
The Monash Alumni Association will host its annual golf day on Tuesday 25 March, featuring an 18-holf golf competition followed by lunch with a guest speaker.

     
 

Public lecture: Meet the artists @ MUMA
Contemporary artists Daniel von Sturmer, Siri Hayes, and Arlo Mountford will discuss the inspiration behind their artwork at Monash University Museum of Art on 16 February.

     
 

Meetings: Retired Pharmacists' Group
The Victorian College of Pharmacy will continue to host its successful monthly meetings for retired pharmacists in 2008. The first meeting will be held on Tuesday 4 March.

Seminar: Marketing connections using new media
Speakers from ANZ, Telstra, Sensis and Naked will speak on the use of new media in marketing at this Monash Alumni Association (MAAI) seminar on Friday 29 February.

     
 

Symposium: Writing and Teaching Australian History
This event, on 15 February, explores the writing and teaching of Australian history in the late 20th and early 21st centuries. The event marks the retirement of Professor Marian Quartly.

     
 

Postgraduate study: 2008 IT courses
A Monash Information Technology postgraduate degree can drive your career forward, or give you a start in the IT industry. Information sessions are being held this month.

On Thursday 21 February, guest speaker Peter Chandler AM will discuss how marketing has evolved from its earliest times to today.

 

 

Alumni profile

Top medical graduate looks forward to a healthy career
Lachlan Miles (MBBS 2007) has embarked on a challenging medical internship after graduating from Monash University with several awards. Dr Miles commenced work in the medical unit of Gippsland Base Hospital in Sale last month as part of a compulsory rural rotation with the Alfred Hospital.
