Jannie Tay receives Distinguished Alumni Award |

| Nobel Laureate Professor Kenneth J. Arrow will join the Department of Economics as an honorary professor. Professor Arrow was awarded the Bank of Sweden Prize in Economic Sciences in Memory of Alfred Nobel in 1972, jointly with Sir John R Hicks, for his contributions to general economic equilibrium theory and welfare theory. <more> |

| Monash Council approves fee increase |
| Monash University Council last month decided that HECS charges from 2005 enrollments would be set at the maximum levels for most courses. Vice-chancellor Professor Richard Larkins said the Council's decision would provide extra resources to the university that would be necessary for it to maintain its high-quality education. <more> |
