Mr Alistair Lloyd AO RFD ED videoDescription: Voiceover: "Alistair Lloyd completed his pharmaceutical training at the Victorian College of Pharmacy in 1956. "For over 50 years he has influenced and guided the development of the College. "In the early nineties, Mr Lloyd was a leading advocate of the union of the College and Monash University. "As Chairman of the Victorian College of Pharmacy Foundation, he has encouraged and strengthened ties between pharmacy alumni and the wider Monash community. "Monash University congratulates Alistair Lloyd for his leadership and tireless contributions to the College, the University and the alumni community." Mr Lloyd: "When I started studying pharmacy, it was completely different to what we have now. It was a part-time course. In thosedays, the girls sat down one side of the room and the boys sat on the other side of the room. It was a very minor course which qualified you to become a pharmacist but gave you no academic qualification at all. "Since the amalgamation with Monash, we have now developed remarkably, I believe, and that our international standing has advanced immeasurably. "I'm just so impressed with the quality of students thesedays that there are great things ahead. "It is a great personal honour for me to receive such a prestigious award from Monash University. But, particularly, I'm delighted because it also recognises that the amalgamation of the College with the University has been an outstanding success and that we are truly recognised as alumni of a great university."
