Michael Heaton QC

Alumnus Michael Heaton QC (BJuris 1969, LLB 1971) is a senior barrister and mediator, and a donor to the Lawrie McCredie Student Support Program.

Mr Heaton has practised as a barrister for almost 40 years, taking silk in 1999. He specialises in commercial, corporations, property law, trade practices, and constructive trusts. He argues matters from mortgage fraud to professional negligence and farming disputes.

Siān Owen

Siān Owen (BA(Hons) 1981) is an industrial relations consultant. In 1996, she and two colleagues established an industrial relations consultancy – WorkSight. After 10 years in the union movement, the trio felt they had enough experience to offer balanced advice about the rights and entitlements of employers and employees.

Grateful for her Monash experience, Ms Owen is passionate about ensuring others have the same opportunities so she has been a donor to Monash University over a number of years.

David Box

Some might think it unusual to progress from chemical engineer to become the business manager of a major food ingredients enterprise. Not David Box (BE 1987); this outcome was always in his sights.

His career began with a production engineering position with the unit of ICI that manufactured many types of resin. Mr Box has since worked in the UK, Venezuela and Chile, picking up Spanish along the way. Today, he is the business manager of Bronson & Jacobs, a division of Orica. In 1997 ICI Australia became Orica, now one of Australia’s top 50 companies.
