Maxwell Jones

Maxwell (Max) Jones (BSc 1978) is a forensic scientist with Victoria Police. In the mid-1990s, he played a vital role in revolutionising the use of DNA in forensic investigations.

As a DNA and blood stain pattern forensic specialist, Mr Jones helps solve crimes by examining blood patterns, weapons, items of clothing and other evidence at crime scenes.

Jane Edmanson OAM

Jane Edmanson OAM (BA 1971, DipEd 1972) is a professional gardener, and television and radio presenter who, for 31 years, has encouraged others to explore their own backyards.

She is a presenter on ABC TV’s long-running Gardening Australia program and is a radio co-host on 3AW’s Jane and Darren’s Big Backyard show.

Matt Smith

Monash University alumnus Matt Smith (BIndDesign(Hons) 2005) calls himself a ‘glorified shed tinkerer’. In reality, he is the brains behind a New Zealand design company specialising in clever, practical furniture.

After graduating, Mr Smith returned to New Zealand and in 2007 founded his own furniture company. Punga & Smith focuses on practical designs, filling a gap in the industry.
