Sustaining Academic Excellence

Tuesday 24 April (Part 1) and Tuesday 1 May (Part 2)
1.30 - 2.30pm, Clayton Campus

Learn techniques to manage stress and improve your grades. Mindfulness is an attention training practice, which has been shown to improve concentration and enhance wellbeing.

The program uses specific mindfulness practices to:

  • Understand and improve the way you learn
  • Develop strategies to manage procrastination
  • Identify your stressor
  • Manage challenges as they arise
  • Maintain a balanced lifestyle

Session facilitator

Dr. Craig Hassed

Dr. Craig Hassed is a General Practitioner and Deputy Head of Department at Monash University Department of General Practice. His teaching, research and clinical interests include mindfulness-based stress management, health promotion, and medical ethics. In 2010, Craig appeared on the ABC TV show "Making Australia Happy".

Speaking Up - the Power of Communication

Join our successful alumni as they discuss the benefits of developing winning communication techniques. Discover how they applied these to enhance their own career prospects and what you can do further perfect your own communication style.

Alumni Speakers

Councillor Stefanie Perri graduated from Monash University with a Bachelor of Communications in 2003.

In 2011, Stefanie was elected Mayor of the City of Monash and is committed to listening to the community, particularly the voices of people from diverse and multicultural backgrounds.

Julia Gilmartin

Julia Gilmartin is currently completing her PhD in Pharmacy having graduated from her Bachelor of Pharmacy in 2008.

In 2011, Julia won the prestigous 3 Minute Thesis competition, impressing a panel of judges with her communication skills in presenting her research in 3 minutes using one slide.
