Gateway Scholars is a mentoring program for selected students entering Years 11 and 12, who show academic potential and come from families with limited experience in university studies.
Each secondary school student (mentee) is individually matched with a Monash University student (mentor), with the aim of building a positive relationship focused on exploring higher education and working towards identified goals. The program offers mentees support and a range of activities designed to inform them about university study and career paths and to help them achieve their fullest potential.
The program runs from March until October. The mentoring sessions take place on a regular basis at an agreed time and venue. This venue will usually be the mentee’s school, but could be places such as a Monash University campus, a local library or art gallery, or even attendance at an event.
