Monash Gap Year

This is a program for students who receive a Monash University course offer and decide to defer. The program provides ways for you to connect with the university in the lead up to starting your course. Throughout the year you will receive emails, invitations to seminars, campus tours and information sessions.

Preparing for course commencement

We hope that you have had a great year. We are looking forward to welcoming you to Monash University in 2013.

There are a couple of simple steps to a smooth enrolment:

1. Make sure your postal address is up to date. Update your details via the student database

2. Respond to the letter you will receive from your Faculty. If your letter doesn’t arrive by 17 December, email accessmonash@monash.edu

3. Get ready for your return to study by visiting www.monash.edu.au/adjusting/. It takes you through everything you need to know about starting at Monash from getting to campus, preparing for study, making friends and finding extra-curricular opportunities.

4. Find out about Orientation and create a plan at www.monash.edu.au/orientation. O Week starts 25 February 2013.

How to Apply to Defer?

Once you have received your course offer letter from Monash and decide you would like to delay your start to study, you can apply to defer your offer. This means that you can start your course later - in the following semester or year.

How to Stay Connected?

During your deferment, it is important to keep checking your Monash email account for official information from the University. You can also forward emails from your Monash account to an existing email address that you regularly access.
