Professor Merran Evans - Pro Vice-Chancellor (Planning and Quality)

As the Pro Vice-Chancellor (Planning and Quality), Professor Merran Evans is responsible for:

  • supporting the development of strategic and operational planning within Monash University
  • education policy matters
  • leading the improvement of quality assurance in all areas of the University's operations
  • supporting strategic, evidence-based decision making through statistical analysis of the University's student data

Professor Evans' career at Monash has included appointments as:

  • Director of University Planning and Statistics
  • Director of University Planning and Academic Affairs
  • Director of the Monash London Centre
  • Associate Chair of Academic Board
  • Associate Dean (Undergraduate Teaching) in the Faculty of Business and Economics
  • Associate Professor, Department of Econometrics and Business Statistics, Faculty of Business and Economics.

Other current and previous activities include membership of:

  • the Library Board of Victoria
  • the Victorian Tertiary Admissions Centre (VTAC) Management Committee
  • the Board of Monash College, the Menzies Centre for Australian Studies in the UK
  • the Australian-American Educational Foundation (Fulbright)
  • the Victorian Curriculum and Assessment Authority
  • the Victorian Council for Knowledge, Innovation, Science and Engineering.

She has also been on the Board of Directors of the Australian Ballet Foundation and the Council of Management of the Australian Ballet School. She is a recipient of the Centenary Medal for Services to Education.

Professor Evans holds a Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Science and a Master of Science in Statistics from the University of Melbourne, and a Doctor of Philosophy in Econometrics from Monash University.
