Pro Vice-Chancellor and President - Malaysia

Professor Robin Pollard is responsible for the Monash campus located at Bandar Sunway, Selangor. His vision is for the campus to be the premier private research-intensive university in South East Asia, contributing to the Malaysian nation and to the region.

Prior to his current role, Professor Pollard was Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Development and International) at the University of New England. He is no stranger to Malaysia, having been the Foundation Professor and Head, School of Business and Information Technology at the Monash campus from 1998 to 2000.

Professor Pollard's background is in condensed matter physics, but he has also held academic positions in information technology, marketing and in chemistry. He has worked in universities in Australia, Malaysia, New Zealand, Canada, United States of America and Great Britain.

At Monash University, he has undertaken research using Mössbauer spectroscopy at Clayton, completed the Monash MBA, been Undergraduate Courses Director in the Faculty of Business and Economics at Caulfield and Peninsula campuses, been Head of School for two faculties, and been Associate Dean (International) in the Faculty of Information Technology. He has held positions in the departments of Physics, Marketing and Business Systems. He has taught Monash students in a majority of faculties.

His present interests include issues in transnational education, the relationships between abilities, attitudes and motivation of staff, and the privatisation of higher education.
