Monash alumni share their opinions

Issue 20 | Spring/Summer 2007

Monash alumni are proud of the University and want to have greater interaction with the institution, a recent major survey has found.

Almost 5,000 alumni - located in Australia and around the world - responded to the survey which asked questions about their preferences for communications, events and lifelong learning.

The survey results included a number of interesting findings:

  • Alumni are proud to be graduates of Monash and enjoyed their time at the University.
  • Monash graduates are highly likely to recommend the University to others, based on their own learning and student experiences.
  • Nearly half the respondents want greater interaction with Monash.

However, awareness of current alumni-related activities and benefits ranged from low to moderate.

  • Alumni are most interested in lifelong-learning opportunities about career planning, leadership and wealth management.
  • Alumni are most interested in receiving information from Monash about research and development projects, the University's progress, and alumni and University events.

Vice-President (Advancement) Ron Fairchild said it was very positive to hear that most graduates want to become more involved with Monash:

"It's clear that Monash alumni value their education and would like to have greater interaction. The survey's results will be very helpful in planning improvements to the alumni relations program," he said.
